In our last blog post, we discussed ways to set your goals for the new year and how to keep them, and now that you know how to do that, we are going to talk about a few healthy goals and habits to bring into the new year with you!
1. Drink more water
Possibly one of the most important habits, and the easiest, is to drink more water! Research shows that you should be drinking between half of your weight, or up to your weight, in ounces. So, if you weigh 130 pounds, you should be drinking between 65 and 130 ounces a day.
2. Get into a healthy sleeping routine
Research shows that getting between 7 and 9 hours of sleep is healthy for most adults. However, the most important thing is that you have a sleep regimen and that you are going to bed and waking up at the same time every day.
3. Eat at home more
We can’t stress this enough! Eating at home is an amazing way to get into a healthier diet since you’re seeing and preparing exactly what you’re eating, and you’ll save money by eating out less. If you eat out a lot, try taking small steps by gradually decreasing the number of meals you eat out a week.
4. Eat more organic and locally sourced foods
This is another great way to get into a healthier diet and to support your local businesses and farmers. Organic foods have more beneficial nutrients, like antioxidants, and contain less (if any) chemicals and preservatives.
5. Integrate more eco-friendly products into your life
Sometimes it can be hard to dive right into being eco-friendly, which is why using the new year to start is a great idea. Going eco-friendly doesn’t mean you have to throw away all of the non-eco-friendly items you already own. As you begin to run out of cleaning supplies, and other household items, replace them this time with eco-friendly ones. Continue to do this until eventually, you find yourself without any more non-eco-friendly items!
