Healthy Summer Habits

It’s almost summertime! The welcoming of warm weather is the perfect opportunity to incorporate some healthier habits into your life. In this post, we are going to name a few healthy habits you can start this summer to help you feel your best!

1. Sunscreen

Although you should be wearing sunscreen all year, summertime is the most important time of the year to do so. It’s great to always carry a bottle of sunscreen with you, but there are also other ways to incorporate it into your daily routine. For example, daily moisturizers with sunscreen are a great way to build this habit, and there are even makeup products that contain sunscreen! Watermelon is “also rich in lycopene, an antioxidant that can help protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays? It’s no substitute for sunscreen—but every little bit helps, right?”

2. Healthy BBQ’s

Who doesn’t love a good barbeque? If you’re trying to eat healthier, incorporate some veggies on the grill. Some foods that are awesome to BBQ and taste great are asparagus, artichokes, zucchini, eggplant, and so many more.

3. Ice Water

Although this is another habit that can be incorporated all year, its especially important in the summer. Try to drink water before every meal, and after every drink during happy hour! “Drinking water before a meal could help you eat fewer calories, making it easier to keep your weight in check, says registered dietitian Erin Palinski. As an added bonus? “The icy cold water might give your metabolism a slight boost,” she says. Skip the sodas and add fresh lemons and cucumbers to your water so you get a little more excited about drinking it.”

4. Exercise in Fun New Ways

Everything seems possible when the weather starts to get warmer! Take advantage of this opportunity to try some new fun workouts. For example, running on the boardwalk biking through the park, rollerblading, yoga on the beach, swimming, and so many more! You could even join a summer sports team, like volleyball or softball. Just go outside and have some fun!

5. Experiment with Food

Saw some delicious looking recipes on Pinterest? Try them! Cooking has been known to be therapeutic and is also a perfect opportunity to invite some friends or family over to share the experience with.
